Tammy Baldwin, U.S. Senator for Wisconsin

Back in 2012, Baldwin gave history a two-for-one special by becoming both the nation’s first openly gay person and the state’s first woman representative elected to the Senate. And before that, she was the first woman from Wisconsin elected to Congress. Her commitment to LGBT issues and diversity, however, is nothing new. She co-founded the Congressional LGBT Equality Caucus in back 2008, as a “resource for members of Congress, their staff, and the public on LGBT issues at the federal level.”
