Laura Strausfeld is a lawyer, educator, playwright, and co-founder of Period Equity, which advocates for equitable menstrual policy in America. She first researched the illegality of the tampon tax years ago as a Columbia Law student. In 2016, she connected with Jennifer Weiss-Wolf and proposed they mobilize legal action against New York State. Together, they filed a class action lawsuit that resulted in immediate removal of the tax from the state. To continue their work together, they formed Period Equity.
Laura joined the LOLA Collective as an advocate in 2020. In addition to her considerable legal expertise, she has done extensive research on environmental toxins and women’s health, and has written and spoken publicly about menstrual product safety.
