What should I expect to experience with a hormonal IUD? How will I know if it’s the right birth control method for me?

In terms of what you can expect with a hormonal IUD, long-term symptoms might include acne, breast tenderness, extended bleeding, or headaches. It depends on how long these symptoms are going on for, in terms of whether we’re concerned about it or not. So, if it’s a short period of time, for a few weeks, and then it just sort of fades away, I’m not so worried about it as that can happen when you’re transitioning to a new birth control. But if it’s going on for an extended period of time, for more than 2-3 months, then I would want to perhaps have the discussion of switching you to a different kind of birth control.
