What help is available for a lady wanting to become pregnant with no partner?
There are many options available for women who desire pregnancy without a partner. Using your own eggs, and donor sperm from an anonymous person or someone known to you, combined with the intrauterine insemination (IUI) procedure is a great first step to achieve pregnancy. It is the least expensive, and the most straightforward. However, your chance of success may be lower compared to the in vitro fertilization procedure (IVF). IVF can be done with your own eggs, and partner’s sperm, or donor eggs/donor sperm. It can also involve the use of a gestational carrier if you are unable, or do not desire to carry the pregnancy. If you are not sure you want to get pregnant at this time, egg freezing may also be an option for you. Egg freezing is a procedure to procure and preserve your own eggs to get pregnant in the future. Cost may also be a factor in which reproductive technology you decide to use. A good first step would be to speak with your doctor about the different options and find out which is right for you.
