Recently I’ve been having my period twice a month lasting about 5 days with light to medium bleeding. What can cause this sudden change and is it normal???

This is definitely something to discuss with your GYN or trusted women’s healthcare provider as you will want to go through a series of questions and then possibly tests to uncover the reason for the abnormal uterine bleeding. It could be a structural or hormonal cause, but most commonly has to do with inconsistent ovulation. Some other things to discuss with your provider and have them look into for you: bleeding disorders, polycystic ovary syndrome, thyroid dysfunction, hypothalamic dysfunction (eg, related to stress, exercise, being underweight or acute weight changes), hormonal reasons, or infection.
