My Daughter (12) is well into puberty. Her doctor says her period is overdue. When should I be worried?
A girl’s period usually begins about 2 to 2½ years after her first signs of puberty. Breast development is usually the first sign of puberty, though occasionally pubic hair may be the first sign. Girls usually get their first periods between the ages of 8 and 15. However, some girls start puberty a little earlier or later than others. If your daughter doesn’t get her period by age 15, I would want to investigate more. I would suggest talking to her doctor on why they feel that her period is overdue and I wouldn’t hesitate to get a second opinion if you need one.
