Is there any evidence that getting a Mirena IUD in my 20s could cause issues with my period, or with getting pregnant, after it's removed?

There is no evidence that getting an IUD can affect fertility. In fact, many women can have their IUD removed and get pregnant during the same cycle, as progesterone-only IUDs don’t suppress ovulation, so to some degree, it’s easier to get back to your normal hormonal equilibrium. While you have a progesterone-only IUD, your bleeding flow can get lighter and often completely disappear but these are not permanent changes to your cycle. Your period should return to it’s typical pattern once your IUD is removed.
