Is it okay to take prenatal vitamins even though I’m 21 yr old and not yet pregnant?
Prenatal vitamins are, generally speaking, very safe to take at any point in someone’s life as long as your doctor is not telling you otherwise for a specific individual health reason. Some people even prefer to take them over their standard multivitamin for the additional nutrient support. Prenatal vitamins have higher doses of important nutrients for a pregnancy, but these nutrients are also important for preconception health or in certain cases, when people just need the added support. As long as you are not taking more than is recommended on the bottle or against the wishes of your doctor, they are generally very safe.
