I’m 28, and I got off the pill almost 8 months ago. My period is still extremely irregular (I’ve only had 2 since I got off). Should I be concerned?
Period irregularities are quite common, but it many cases, irregularities can signal that there may be underlying issues to investigate. There are myriad factors that can cause period irregularities, including emotional state, rapid weight changes, hormone imbalance, recent birth control usage, or infections, to name a few. While some forms of birth control may cause irregular periods after cessation, it is generally recommended that you have one period at least every 3 months. If you periods are less frequent than that, speak with your doctor about having an evaluation to investigate an underlying cause.
