I had a baby 5 months ago, and have not gotten my period yet. I feel a complete change in my vaginal area: smells different and feels different. Is this normal?
Congratulations on the new baby! After birth, it is normal to have light bleeding a couple of weeks after birth as your body eliminates the residual tissue from the birth. You can expect a full period 6 to 8 weeks after the birth if you are not breastfeeding. If you are exclusively breastfeeding, your period may not return until after you have stopped. If you are mixed feeding, it may be variable. It is also quite normal to have changes in your vaginal area after birth. After all, a tiny human has passed through! It may feel more open, and soft, it also may smell different, or your pelvic floor muscles may feel a bit weaker. These things are all normal and things you can do something about once you feel up to it. At 5 months postpartum, your body is still healing so just enjoy this period with your little one!
