Hi, I have a painless bump on my vulva that seems to go down in inflammation when heat is applied, but if I try to pop it, it gets very agitated and grows in size. Can you help?

I’m sorry that is a very frustrating symptom to have. It sounds like it could be an inflamed hair follicle from an ingrown hair. Heat and warm compresses can really help to soften the bump and allow the hair follicle to be released without added inflammation to the area. Trying to pop it aggravates the already inflamed hair follicle and it can grow in size. I would definitely have your primary care provider look at the bump to confirm that it is indeed an inflamed ingrown hair, as well as to make sure it’s not infected . If it is they will likely want to treat it with antibiotics.
