I am 13 and I got my first period yesterday afternoon..AHHH. Anyways, I had light bleeding during the day for around 4 hours, but when I woke up the next morning there was no blood on my pad. It has been around 6 hours and there has been no blood since yesterday. Is this normal?
Congratulations! It sounds like you had your first period. It can be normal to have such a light period. You may have some more bleeding in the next few days or, you may not. You may bleed again next month, or not. Bleeding happens because hormone levels go up and down. A period is actually considered something called withdrawal bleeding since it is a sign that the hormone level of progesterone drops. You may not be ovulating yet which means that you are not releasing an egg. This is called an anovulatory cycle. These types of cycles tend to be very irregular and may continue for several years. Although a young woman is having irregular cycles, it is possible to get pregnant! So as you get older, remember that when the time is right for you, always practice safe sex to protect yourself from an unwanted pregnancy or disease.
