How long is it safe to take prenatal vitamins? I started taking them as I was originally planning on trying to get pregnant but we may delay it due to the unknown of COVID. I've read it can be dangerous to take too long. Should I stop and restart or am I ok to keep taking them?
Prenatal vitamins are very safe to take long-term. Some people even prefer to take them over their standard multivitamin for the additional nutrient support. Prenatal vitamins have higher doses of important nutrients for a pregnancy, but these nutrients are also important for preconception health. As long as you are taking them as originally prescribed by your doctor, then you can feel safe about continuing as long as you are in the planning stages.
