How do I best prepare for the emotional aspects of pregnancy?

It can be hard to know how to prepare, as everyone responds differently to the emotional experience of pregnancy. If the predominant emotions you are feeling are worry or sadness, or if intense, intrusive thoughts begin to interfere with your ability to function, it is important to seek help right away. With that said, some strategies for handling these emotions include talking about them, writing down feelings and worries, reframing cognitive distortions and thinking errors, working on accepting the unknown, using distractions like listening to music and exercising, and practicing mindfulness via meditation and breathing exercises.
