How can I avoid itchy dryness in my vaginal area?
Vaginal dryness is most commonly associated with menopause. As the estrogen hormone levels fall, the vagina loses its lubrication. The lining of the vagina can become more thin, and less elastic, resulting in dryness and vaginal irritation. Other conditions like breastfeeding, radiation, chemotherapy, and autoimmune skin conditions can also cause dryness. Additionally, medications (including birth control), douching, or poor hydration may make your feel more dry. Vaginal dryness is extremely uncomfortable, and may affect your sex life — and even quality of life. Be sure to speak with your doctor about possible causes and treatments to address the issue.
