After puberty hits, what are some signs that you’ll be getting your period soon? How long after puberty hits do you think these will start?
Most young women get their first period, called menarche, about 2 years after the first signs of puberty. For many girls, the first sign of puberty is breast buds that appear between the ages of 9 and 12, though some girls may start the first stage of puberty earlier or later than that. A sign that you may be getting close to getting your period is an increase in vaginal discharge which looks like white or yellow tinged mucus in your underpants. You may also start getting cramps which feel like a dull ache in your lower abdomen or in your back. But, sometimes your period can come as a complete surprise when you’re not expecting it. It’s a good idea to be prepared for several months before your period comes. LOLA’s First Period Kit is a great way to feel prepared!
