The pretty, crisp design of the LOLA box earned its spot on the bathroom shelves of some of our favorite influencers — and deserves an equally chic bathroom to match. If you’re looking for easy upgrades, we’ve got you covered. At Hamlet, where we send customers personal recommendations for furniture and decor, all over text message, one of my favorite customer requests is bathroom upgrades. They don’t have to be complicated (read: expensive) to pack a real punch. Here are our top 5 recommendations (text us — seriously! — to explore more: 646-586-6620).
Tip 1: Substitute your bath mat with a rug
There’s nothing quite as luxe as a real rug in an unexpected place, like a bathroom floor, where you’d usually expect to find a soggy bath mat or (gasp!) cold tiles. We love adding a simple kilim or cotton rug for a bit of color and something cozy under the feet. Rugs make a space feel like a real room, rather than an afterthought, and can be budget friendly, too: most rugs come in 2’ x 3’ size. Try it — you’ll be floored.
Tip 2: Find a shower curtain you love
Goodbye, scary plastic vehicle for mold, hello bathroom fit for a real adult! Fabric shower curtains are a great way to add softness to your bathroom. I love a simple and crisp shower curtain, but definitely don’t shy away from pattern or color if you’re feeling adventurous.
Tip 3: Add decorative accents — especially if they’re fragrant
If you have a bit of spare counter space, adding a succulent, vanity tray, or a scented candle is an easy, quick way to add a little elegance and flair. It’s easy to forget that bathrooms need to be styled too, and adding a decorative element will help bring the room to life.
Tip 4: Store your “stuff” in style
Storage doesn’t have to be tucked away. Pick up a few wicker baskets for spare bath towels. Glass jars and vessels are a great way to corral smaller items like cotton balls and guest soaps. A great trick is to use your burned down candles as a container for your q-tips or makeup brushes, as they’re usually the perfect size. (Pro tip: scooping out the last bits of wax are much easier if you stick your burned down candle in the freezer overnight). Your countertop will be just as display-worthy as your LOLA box.
Tip 5: Get a gorgeous hand towel
Because there are so many different options available, I have an embarrassingly large collection of hand towels. They don’t take up a ton of storage space and it is literally the easiest thing you can do to spruce up your bathroom or prepare for guests! I particularly love fouta towels, like this one, because they’re lightweight, dry quickly and you don’t have to iron them. Be playful and have fun with it- there’s no wrong choice!
